Do It Yourself Games--for School?
Strange as it may seem, the answer is, "Yes!" This site was designed by a teacher (really!) to guide students through the process of creating their own games using computer presentation software (such as Microsoft PowerPoint© or StarOffice Impress©). This process has 5 steps:

  • Thinking: brainstorming ideas
  • Creating: shaping those ideas into simple storyboards
  • Collecting: gathering images and other resources for the game
  • Building: using the computer software to make the game
  • Testing: checking to be sure the game works

The final step? Playing, of course!

Ready to get started? Follow the directions in the box below.

Students
If you're here on your own, great! Follow the directions here and in each step, working at your own pace. If you're here for a class assignment, just be sure to follow the directions of your teacher, too, especially concerning due dates!

The navigation buttons on the left will take you through the steps for building your game. Start with "Thinking" (the "lightning" button) and do the activities there. When you finish those, go on to the next step, "Creating," and so on. You may also use the "Next" button (the arrow at the bottom right) to proceed to the next step.

The buttons on the right lead to Cheats (Help), Resources, and other useful information that may help you with each step. Visit them as often as you need. You'll want to check for resources at least once in every step.

That's it! Click the arrow to the right and get started!
