First Grade is a great year.
This is the year we learn to read.  Not only do we become fluent readers, we also become authors.  First graders write wonderful stories.  Part of our writing requires spelling, so we develop good spelling and phonics skills.

In math, children will learn to add and subtract.  We will even add three numbers, write fact families, work with money, time, fractions, and more.

Although first grade is a lot of hard work, we do find time to have some fun.  First graders enjoy our annual Thanksgiving feast, and to celebrate all our hard work, we end the year with an ice cream social.
